Tribeca 2011: Are You Ready to Get Infected with Israeli Rabies?

One film making its North American debut at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival that we’re extremely intrigued by is the Israeli slasher Kalevet (aka Rabies) from co-directors Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales.

Synopsis:
A psychotic serial killer on the loose in the woods crosses paths with a group of unsuspecting teenagers. Soon people are dying one by one… but the bad guy isn’t who you think. Turning genre conventions on their head with a smart script and plenty of unexpected scares, Rabies is a surprising debut worthy of its mantle as Israel’s first-ever slasher horror film.

The actors who were chosen to play murderers and murderees are all a-list actors such as Ofer Shechter, Ania Buckshtein, and Lior Ashkenazi. Check out the official Kalevet website here.

The 10th edition of the Tribeca fest will take place from April 20 to May 1 in lower Manhattan. For more info visit the official Tribeca website, where the screening schedule will go live on Monday, March 21, 2011.
