Screw eight-gen graphics… it’s time to go retro once again as the gore-soaked shooter Strafe, which pays homage to both Doom and Quake, is now available on PS4 and Steam. Head here to buy the collector’s edition in addition to the vinyl soundtrack.
In Strafe you’re tasked with collecting scrap (which serves as a form of currency) from the derelict spacecraft Icarus. If you played Doom or Quake back in the day, then you know what you’re in for.
Published by Devolver Digital and developed by Pixel Titans, Strafe also looks like it could be one of the goriest games of 2017 so far. The fountains of blood and body parts that litter the environment will never disappear, leading to the creation of what the game’s official description refers to as “death art.”
It’s about time we had something to remind us how fun first-person shooters could be before everything tried to be the next Call of Duty. The ultraviolent live-action trailers below are kinda neat too.
