Activision’s Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption Awakens On Steam

Before the success of Destiny and the Call of Duty franchise had Activision executives bathing like Scrooge McDuck in piles of gold, the publisher was a little more ambitious and open to taking risks. Case in point: their 2000 title Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption, which formed part of White Wolf Publishing’s dark fantasy World of Darkness series. Developed by the now defunct Nihilistic Software on a fairly modest budget of $1.8 million, the game wasn’t a huge financial hit, although it was still praised for its plot, atmosphere and multiplayer. A sequel followed four years later.

If you never got round to playing Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption when it was originally released, now’s your chance, as Activision have finally bought the game to Steam for $5.99. This should keep both hardcore World of Darkness fans and newcomers smiling until the next game in the franchise, Focus Home Interactive’s Werewolf: The Apocalypse, rolls into stores.

Synopsis:
Before your fall, you led a crusade against evil. Now you’ve become one of the undead creatures you once battled – a Vampire. Inhabiting the World of Darkness, you must face a series of brutal confrontations with your nemesis Vukodlak, a powerful vampire lord.

Your unholy showdown begins in medieval Europe and rages on into the modern day, as you track a soulless enemy in an eternal struggle to destroy him. For this is the only hope of vengeance for your tortured immortality.

A storyline that begins in Middle Ages and ends in the present

A well-known universe as the game’s setting: World of Darkness

Your decisions during both gameplay and conversations will determine the final outcome of the story
