John August to Pen The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft

We’ve been talking about a feature film version of the Image Comics property The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft for a while now, and it looks like a writer has finally been tapped to pen the script.

John August (Frankenweenie, Dark Shadows) is the man handling the adaptation as a potential directing vehicle for Ron Howard.

The story centers on Lovecraft and his encounter with an ancient book of unspeakable lore (Can you guess the book’s name? I bet you can!) which passes on to him a terrible curse. The introverted author suddenly becomes a great force of unwitting destruction and is also the only one capable of battling the forces that he unleashes to the world.

Keep it here for more as it comes.
