If there’s one movie we are dying to see around these parts, it’s Guillermo del Toro’s take on the Seventies TV scare-a-thon Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Being big fans of the original and of course del Toro himself, there’s no reason not to be excited! For fans overseas the good news just keeps on coming.
According to Variety Pathe International will distribute the Miramax movie to international audiences. Still no word on a Stateside release. Sigh.
The Guillermo del Toro produced remake is directed by Troy Nixey, and stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison, and Jack Thompson.
For those unfamiliar Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark centers on a young girl, portrayed by Madison, who’s sent to live with her father (Pearce) and his girlfriend (Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, where she unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures bent on destroying all of them.
