Gamers out there are very familiar with achievements or trophies or whatever means of reward video game publishers have given players over the years. A high gamer score is great for bragging rights, but to get something physical? Well that’s some truly next-gen stuff!

From the Press Release:
Pocket Gems, a leading developer of original mobile games and entertainment, announced today a partnership with Voodoo Manufacturing, the software-optimized 3D printing manufacturing company. Through the partnership, War Dragons players can win limited-edition 3D figurines of playable dragons from the game.

“We’re constantly looking for unique new ways to engage with our players, and we’ve had our eye on 3D printing for a while,” said Chris Luhur, Director of Marketing at Pocket Gems. “The idea of rewarding players with real-life prizes for winning something in a virtual world is a new concept for mobile games, and we’re really excited to try it out.”

To be eligible for a statue, players must perform well and earn prizes throughout the game’s winter 2017 season. Winners will receive a code to redeem a rare statue of Kinarra, a fan-favorite playable dragon from the game, via the War Dragons shop.

War Dragons is a visually stunning 3D real-time strategy game that puts players in control of the ultimate dragon army. Players can join a guild, help their teammates launch attacks, and hold off enemy raids in true real-time fashion. Since launching in April 2015, War Dragons has seen:

  • 1.3 billion battles fought.
  • 49 million dragons hatched.
  • 75 million cumulative hours played.

“We’re seeing 3D printing transform the way promotional products are designed and made, especially in gaming” said Max Friefeld, Co-Founder and CEO of Voodoo Manufacturing. “We’re excited to help Pocket Gems bring War Dragons to life with these one-of-a-kind rewards for their players.”

Voodoo Manufacturing created 1,000 6″ x 6″ x 6″ statues using 3D printing technology. The company specializes in small-batch production of plastic parts, ranging from 1 to 10,000 unit runs at injection molding costs.
