2011 People’s Choice Awards Winners Announced

2011 is off and running, and the first major awards show, the People’s Choice Awards, has come and gone; and in its first year of having a Favorite Horror Movie category, the people picked a real stinker.

Yep, one of the Dread Central staff’s overwhelming picks for the worst film of 2010, A Nightmare on Elm Street, got the people’s vote as Favorite Horror Film, beating out some pretty stiff competition from The Crazies, The Last Exorcism, Let Me In, and Resident Evil: Afterlife.

Here are the other genre (or slightly genre) winners:

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – Favorite Movie, Favorite Drama Movie, and Favorite Onscreen Team (Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart) with Kristen Stewart winning for Favorite Movie Actress

“Dexter” – Favorite TV Obsession (at least they got THAT right!)

“Fringe” – Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show (also nominated were “Smallville”, “Supernatural”, “True Blood”, and “The Vampire Diaries”; a little surprised “True Blood” didn’t take this one)

And that’s it for us. To see all the winners, visit the official People’s Choice Awards website.
