At least that’s the version of the legend that Albino Farm writer-director Sean McEwen is basing his new horror movie around.
Believe it or not, the “Albino Farm” legend is quite the tall tale in the Southwest Missouri area; multiple versions of the story have sprung up, including the one McEwen is using for the film. It seemed to have derived the “Albino Farm” nickname from different versions of the story: one describing an evil albino caretaker and another about an albino family that used to live there who spray painted the lawn orange. I’m going to assume that the movie version will feature far more sinister acts on the part of the farm’s mutant denizens than spray-painting the lawn pastels.
But did any version of that legend ever involve former WWE wrestler turned first-round elimination on Fox’s “Celebrity Duets”, Chris Jericho? Since leaving the squared circle of World Wrestling Entertainment, “Y2J” has been continuing as frontman of the band Fozzy and trying his hand at the whole acting thing, having already co-starred in the Sci-Fi Channel’s Android Apocalypse and soon to be seen as a henchman in Shoot ‘Em Up. Now he’ll be entering the Albino Farm, though no word on what role Jericho will play in the movie. I could totally see him as an evil albino.
Shooting begins any day now with creature effects courtesy of award-winning Creature F/X artist Jason Barnett; you may have seen some of his work in such films as Hellboy and Silent Hill. More details on this one to come; in the meantime, check out the official Albino Farm website. Not much there right now other than some animation and scrolling text, but if you do check it out be sure to crank up your speakers and dig on the sound at the end.
