The Last of Us. Great game? Yes. Scientifically accurate. Um…no. You see, the Youtube channel Wellcome Trust recruited a bunch of scientists to examine the game’s plausibility, and the results were less than spectacular. Check out out below.

The Science of The Last of Us
You’ve played the game – now find out how you would really react to a deadly pandemic.

What can video games tell us about the end of the world? A bunch of scientists, philosophers and game critics play and discuss The Last of Us, exploring what it tells us about real-life disease, outbreaks and how prepared we are for the next pandemic.

Featuring:
Dr Ben Thompson, The Microbiology Society
Elizabeth Beardsmore, epidemiologist, Teeside University
Rich Stanton, game critic and journalist
Dr Christine Rollier, Oxford Vaccine Group

Produced and edited by Barry J Gibb
Filmed by Barry J Gibb and Simon Moore

Special thanks to Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe for allowing Wellcome to use The Last of Us Remastered (PS4).
