Two Hogzilla movies? Yep! And this second one is technically first – already in post-production.
The version starring Joe Bob Briggs is entitled Son of Hogzilla (though the current promotional artwork doesn’t have the Son of part, simply calling it Hogzilla), and only claims to be “inspired by actual events” and is described as a “horror parody,” as opposed to The Legend of Hogzilla, which seems to have its sights set on being a more straightforward horror flick. In Son of Hogzilla/Hogzilla, an unsuspecting news crew treks into the Georgia swamps in search of an aggressive feral hog the locals have dubbed Hogzilla.
Judging by the artwork, it would seem a lot of those stray humans are hot babes with guns. No complaints here. Joe Bob plays a crazed mountain man. Not much else to go on in this one outside of the film’s currently sparse MySpace page, but I’d suspect we’ll be hearing more about both Hogzilla flicks in the near future.
Hey, the world survived dueling volcano movies, comet/meteor striking the Earth flicks, and Truman Capote biofilms; surely we can live with two movies about Hogzilla. And if you ask me, we’re a better world for it!
