Cooked up by screenwriters Rachel and Scott Stamper and director Byron Erwin, Lynch Mob deals with gun-toting goodfellas (led by Tony Darrow of “The Sopranos”) contending with cannibal Confederate good ol’ boys trapped in the cursed Georgia town of Lynchburg, where the FBI have stashed a manipulative mob witness in a rickety old shack. That squealer named “Weasel” is one truly oddball character, an ever scheming, pedophile, mob “truth extractor” that when he speaks sounds like Peter Lorre playing “Igor” in a Frankenstein flick. That performance really needs to be seen to be believed.
Virgil Films have slotted Lynch Mob for an October 26th DVD release just in time for Halloween. No word if the disc will include any extras. While it may prove too eccentric for some and suffer from too many flaws for many people’s tastes, I found Lynch Mob to have enough working in its favor to make it a welcome surprise. As I wrote in my review, “Somehow it all comes together like a rusty old pick-up, the paint chipping and the bumper partially hanging off.”
This short trailer barely hints at the quirkier aspects that Lynch Mob serves on its horrific menu.
