Another Lifetime Horror

More horrors from Lifetime Television (we told you about the last one right here)? What the hell is going on in this world? I guess our precious little genre isn’t quite so undignified these days, eh?

The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Lifetime has just greenlit a new 4-hour miniseries for the channel called The Gathering, which is being produced by “Battlestar Galactica” producer David Elick and “X-Files” producer/Rest Stop director John Shiban.

After Michael Foster’s wife vanishes without a trace, he goes a little bit mad in his search for any clues as to her whereabouts. What he uncovers is much darker than he ever expected, namely a coven of witches who are gathering in New York City and doing despicable witch-like things.

TV director Bill (“CSI”) Eagles is directing the 4-hour mini from a script penned by Shiban. “We wanted to take a horror staple — witchcraft — and give it a dose of reality and make television that scares because it feels real,” Shiban said in a press release. I have to admit it; I’m curious to see how this comes out. My God, does that mean horror fans are actually going to be tuning in to Lifetime soon? I ask again: What is going on in this world?!
