Recently, we were approached by the lovely folks behind UK alternative fashion outlet Kate’s Clothing regarding a potential giveaway — but their generosity didn’t stop there. Alongside the opportunity to win yourself £100 in store credit, an exclusive 10% discount code for Dread Central readers also landed on the table. Question was… how do we frame this? Well, given that the Kate’s Clothing crew are an avid bunch of horror fans, we asked them to pick their top ten male and female style icons of the genre — and here they are, along with your discount code (usable worldwide).

Click the link in each character’s style quote to find some curated fashion choices that’ll help you meet that look. Take it away, Kate’s Clothing!

Horror’s 10 Most Stylish Men

Pinhead – Hellraiser
We love the bondage style of the Cenobites – so hot! Plus, anyone who can rock half a hardware store as part of their outfit deserves to be an icon. Pinhead’s look launched gothic bondage style for men – give us straps, give us D-rings, give us leatherette; we’ll take it all!

Style Quote: “Do I look like someone who cares what God thinks?”

Freddy Krueger – A Nightmare on Elm Street
That jumper! The hat and the claws are cool too, but it’s all about that jumper! You can Krueger up your style on any chilly day! Freddy is one of our all-time favourite horror characters, and his look ranks up there too. Totally iconic, and perfect to recreate on special occasions like Halloween. Don’t get him confused for Dennis the Menace though, Krueger wears green and red… not black and red!

Style Quote: “I’m your boyfriend now, Nancy!”

Patrick Bateman – American Psycho
Possibly one of the most stylish characters in cinema, Bateman’s crazy side just makes us love him more. There is nothing more perfect than an ultra well-polished veneer loosely veiling undulating murderous demons!

Style Quote: “I like to dissect girls. Did you know I’m utterly insane?”

Dracula
It was impossible to pick just one iteration of Dracula for our list. They all have their merits… even the spoofs! One thing they do hold in common, though, is some timeless style! Drac is always incredibly well turned out, suave, seductive, an embodiment of all the night’s mysteries. You could say he’s a real lady killer!

Style Quote: “Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!”

Alex DeLarge – A Clockwork Orange
He’s mean and so is his sense of style. This strong look has been recreated and spoofed countless times and it just doesn’t get old!

Style Quote: “Naughty, naughty, naughty! You filthy old soomka!”

Eric Brooks – Blade
If you’re going to an industrial rave you should probably take your style inspiration from Blade. The look is timeless… just leave the weapons at home (they’re frowned upon in public).

Style Quote: “You better wake up. The world you live in is just a sugar-coated topping.”

Lestat – Interview with the Vampire
The original trad goth icon, Lestat rocks heavy fabrics and fills in a way no-one else can. He gives it edge!

Style Quote: “None of us really changes over time. We only become more fully what we are.”

Eric Draven – The Crow
Now this is how you wear leather-look bondage pants! Eric Draven is an ultimate style icon. Guys still don the Crow makeup nowadays, and they are wise to do it. Its such a strong look – moody, romantic and somehow still tough… all things a true icon needs!

Style Quote: “Can’t rain all the time…”

David – The Lost Boys
Moody, a bit Goth/Metal looking, and has a whole gang! David from The Lost Boys embodies young vampire cool. If you’re thinking David while getting dressed you’re probably going to look smoking!

Style Quote: “Now you know what we are, now you know what you are.”

Spike – Buffy the Vampire Slayer
He’s basically Billy Idol, but a vampire… and wearing more black. What’s not to love? Forever handsome, stylish and a little ‘goth and roll’, Spike should inspire all your style choices!

Style Quote: “We like to talk big, vampires do. ‘I’m going to destroy the world.’ That’s just tough-guy talk.”

Next page: The Ladies!

Horror’s 10 Most Stylish Ladies

Wednesday Addams – The Addams Family
Though we love all ladies of horror, Wednesday Addams has given us the most wearable horror outfit. The classic black dress with white collar, pig tails and long socks has been giving us goth girls a go-to look since forever! Just add your own dose of apathy and you’re good to go wake the dead!

Style Quote: “This is my costume, I’m a homicidal maniac. They look like everyone else.”

Vampira
Vampira basically invented gothic eyebrows. Her makeup style has been copied time and time again by both gothic icons and the goth girl on the street. Vampira’s style is a double-pronged attack on mainstream culture as not only is her face to die for, but that dress is too! Who else can be recognised by her silhouette alone?

Style Qoute: “Screaming relaxes me.”

Morticia Addams – The Addams Family
One of the ultimate horror/gothic fashion icons. Most girls don’t even know they want to be a spooky scream queen until they see Morticia Addams in action. She’s our inspiration, and our gateway fashion drug. Always glamorous, sexy, strong, and feminine whilst barely showing any flesh!

Style Quote: “Black… such a happy colour.”

The Bride of Frankenstein
What Halloween was made for! With all the glamour of the grave revived, the Bride of Frankenstein is a dressing-up favourite for horror girls worldwide. Iconic, totally glamorous and still a little terrifying… who wouldn’t want to embody that for a night?!

Style Quote: “Aaaaaaaggggguuuuhhhhh.”

Elvira
Elvira took the glamorous look of Morticia and Vampira and made it fierce, modern and altogether ass-kicking. She drove, changed tyres, worked, and fought evil… everything you want from a female style icon – crass, loud and totally styling.

Style Quote: “Listen sister, if I want your opinion, I’ll beat it out of you.”

Tiffany – Bride of Chucky
Unashamedly sexy, a little bit squeaky and in love with the wrong guy… but aren’t we all?!

Style Quote: “You know me. I’ll kill anybody, but I’ll only sleep with someone I love.”

Ginger – Ginger Snaps
This one’s for when you’re going through your ‘Nirvana’ and journals phase. Ginger rocks the ultimate grunge girl wardrobe in Ginger Snaps, making even the most chill fashion iconic for us horror girls!

Style Quote: [suicide note] “No comment.”

Akasha – Queen of the Damned
This horror style icon is not for everyday wear – she’s what our fantasies are made of… all gems and teeth!

Style Quote: “Never fear me, Lestat. All of your wishes have come true.”

Baby – House of 1000 Corpses
She’s like an (even more) messed up Jessica Simpson – as beautiful but 4000 times more wrong, and that’s why we love her. Her super cute daisy dukes feminine style contrasts perfectly against her super loose screws, making her a total style icon for us alt girls!

Style Quote: “We like to get fucked up, and do fucked up shit.”

Ellen Ripley – The Alien Series
Sure, Ripley’s ‘deep space trucker’ wardrobe may be strictly utilitarian, but nobody carries the futuristic/cyberpunk look better than this iconic badass and intergalactic kicker of alien (and human) butt.

Style Quote: “You know, Burke, I don’t know which species is worse. You don’t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage.”
