E3 2016: State of Decay 2 Tells You to Work Together or Die

2013’s State of Decay was a bit of a sleeper hit. It suffered from some confused marketing and a staggered release, dropping first onto the Xbox Live marketplace and then a few months later onto Steam Early Access.

Early Access is generally reserved for incomplete games, so the actual completed status of the game was vague and confusing. It wasn’t until the Year-One Survival Edition was released that most people got their hands on it.

I have a few friends that really got into it, putting dozens of hours in to unlock all of the characters. It’s a huge game, and even with the bugs and vague objectives, it was an enjoyable experience. With State of Decay 2, it looks like they want to build upon what fans loved. Check out the trailer:

From what we can see, State of Decay 2 focuses on working together as a team. There was an element of cooperation in State of Decay, but I often found my teammates getting in the way, either blocking my movement or revealing my position. The combat looks more fluid in the sequel, tailored to this group attack approach.

We’ll have to see how it all shapes up, so check back for more updates as they come.
