Did you ever watch “The X-Files” and wonder what Mulder and Scully got up to in their adolescent years? Nope, neither did I, but we’re gonna find out anyway thanks to the new comic series The X-Files: Origins, which journeys back to when the two alien-obsessed agents were still in high school.

But rather than worrying about studying for history tests or whom to take to the prom, they’ve got bigger fish to fry. Or more precisely, bigger murders to solve. The separate stories will feature Scully investigating her teacher’s murder and Mulder investigating the mysterious Martha’s Vineyard.

The details of the new series come from our friends over at Comic Book Resources, who confirmed that the creative team will consist of writer Jody Houser and illustrators Chris Fenoglio and Corin Howell.

Issue #1 will be released in August.
