Rumors began circulating back in January that Universal was eyeing Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage, A Monster Calls) to direct Jurassic World 2, a sequel to last year’s smash hit reboot, and now the studio has officially confirmed that the deal has been inked.
The news was broken over on the official Jurassic Park Facebook page…
“Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment are pleased to announce that J.A. Bayona will direct the Jurassic World sequel,” the page declared.
Stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be returning as their Jurassic World characters, Owen and Claire. Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) will executive produce.
Look for the sequel in theaters on June 22, 2018.
