The Thing Gets an Alternate John Carpenter Score

John Carpenter’s The Thing is probably one of my favorite films of all time. It’s near flawless and is home to every single thing I love about horror movies. One of the things that drives the film home for me is its score, and YouTube Channel House By the Video Store just gave it a new one utilizing one of the tracks from John Carpenter’s Lost Themes. Check it out!

After the release of Lost Themes, an album of original music from the horror master himself, I started wondering what it would look and sound like if a few scenes from The Thing were scored with songs Carpenter wrote in place of [Ennio] Morricone’s original compositions,” writes the site. “In this video I have done just that, and used songs from the album in a few scenes to see how much different it would make them feel.

Interesting little experiment. What do you guys think?
