Released in 1990, Joel Schumacher’s sci-fi/thriller Flatliners is next up on the remake chopping block, and Ellen Page was recently cast as one of the medical students who blur the line between life and death. Today brings the latest bit of casting news for the remake, so read on!

Per The Wrap, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s Diego Luna is in negotiations to star opposite Page in the film, which is being directed by Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo). The script was penned by Ben Ripley (Source Code), and production is set to begin in July.

Flatliners
follows a group of medical students who experiment with “near death” experiences that involve past tragedies until the dark consequences begin to jeopardize their own lives. This time around, the core cast will feature three women and two men, rather than four men and one woman.

Laurence Mark (I, Robot) is producing with Michael Douglas.
