More casting news has crash-landed for Ridley Scott’s upcoming “definitely a sequel to Prometheus and prequel to Alien” film Alien: Covenant as Deadline is reporting that Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight, “Weeds,” “The Bridge”) has been set by Ridley Scott to join the cast, which includes Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, and Danny McBride.

The director’s company, Scott Free, is producing the tentpole for 20th Century Fox.

Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded, but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The film is set for release on October 6, 2017.
