The film is a horror/action hybrid called Last Run, set to be helmed by Frank director Stephen James Bland. Described as a mix between Alien and Black Hawk Down, Last Run stars Gazza as the survivor of an alien invasion according to Variety, whom he promised that it would be “character-driven and no mindless shoot-’em-up.”
Gazza was drawn to the project because of his love for British classics like Day of the Triffids and apparently liked the script, written by poet Philippa Juul, enough to co-produce the film alongside SjB Imperial Film.
Sounds interesting enough to keep an eyeball on, so we’ll be sure to do just that. FYI, the only other former soccer star to successfully turn heads in the film world is Vinnie Jones, who will be featured in the upcoming Midnight Meat Train film. Not bad company to be in!
