Rosenberg’s Already Dead

Despite my inherit distaste for vampire movies, I have to say this one sound like all the elements are in place for something very cool…

Mike DeLuca Productions has teamed with Phoenix Pictures to bring Charlie Huston’s vampire novel Already Dead to the big screen according to this morning’s Variety. The first of a planned five-book series, Dead is about an undead PI who is hired by a Gotham socialite to track down his missing daughter. Seems she got caught up in the wrong crowd, possibly becoming a new strain of vampire that are not only bloodthirsty, but carnivorous as well.

Scott Rosenberg, who wrote both High Fidelity and Kangaroo Jack (now there’s some variety in your career) among many others, is on board as screenwriter. He just finished up a draft for a remake of The Dirty Dozen that takes place during WWII.

Huston’s novel series has just hit book #2, No Dominion, and if the first film does well, the producers are hoping for a franchise. Keep it here for more as it comes down; click here to get Already Dead through Evilshop!
