If you’re a fan of David Cage and his unique, innovative approach to video game narratives and you want something to pass the time until Detroit: Become Human comes out, then you’re in luck as both Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls are getting the remaster treatment, as announced via the PlayStation Blog.
Both games were directed by Cage via his studio, Quantic Dream, and attempted to be as cinematic as a video game could possibly be. Heavy Rain, the story of how ordinary people’s lives are affected by a serial killer, was widely considered to be a masterpiece that showed just how strong an auteur Cage truly was. Beyond: Two Souls, about the psychic bond between a CIA operative and a doctor, was met with a less warm reaction, with one area of criticism being how it incorporated clunky shooter mechanics into the mix to be more appealing to the general gamer crowd.
Beyond: Two Souls will be released on November 26, 2015, on the PlayStation Store and will feature the following enhancements:
Heavy Rain will be released digitally on March 1, 2016, and on March 2nd a boxed edition of the remasters of both games will be released.
The launch trailer for the PS4 version of Beyond: Two Souls is below, and just in case you need any more convincing of Cage’s eccentric brilliance, I’ve also included his PS4 tech demo/short film The Dark Sorcerer.
