Matt Reeves returns to direct the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes, and the film is shooting for an October start date in Vancouver. Details are being kept under wraps at the moment, but today comes word that a big time star has joined the fight. Read on for the latest.

Per THR, Woody Harrelson has nabbed one of the leading human roles in Reeves’ sequel. He will play a character called the Colonel, who is being described as a villain. Harrelson joins the previously announced Gabriel Chavarria.

It is unclear who is returning to the new movie, which will continue the story of Caesar, the evolved ape who is brought to life via motion capture by Andy Serkis.

Mark Bomback is back as screenwriter and Chernin Entertainment as the producer. Dylan Clark is also producing.
