Rather than remain completely faithful to the story, though, Darabont’s got a plan for how to make this vision his own, as Fangoria found out while chatting with star Thomas Jane, who called it the best script he’s ever read, on the set of his latest film, Killshot.
“The script is missing the last 10 pages because he won’t divulge them to anybody—he’s changing the ending … the script we have ends with [the ending of the King story]—but Darabont has added an extra five minutes,” Jane divulged to the mag.
I don’t remember a lot of details of the “The Mist”; it’s been a long time since I’ve read it, but the ending of the story has always stuck in my head because of its terrifying vision. What more could be added to it? In anyone else’s hands I’d be worried, but since it’s Darabont, I’m sure it’ll be worthy.
