Pacific Rim 2 May Have Run Into Problems, Possibly Delayed

Oh, no. If you were hoping that Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim 2 would hit theaters in 2017, then prepare to gobble down a plate full of bitter disappointment. According to the folks at Latino Review, the project has run into some problems. As a result, the film may not make its August 2017 release date. To say that I’m severely bummed would be a serious understatement.

Here’s what Latino Review had to say about the situation:

Originally slated to shoot in Toronto in November of this year, we’re now being told that the production for Pacific Rim: Maelstrom has been delayed until 2016–what month specifically, we don’t know. The reason for the delay is also unknown at this time, but there’s a good chance this will negatively affect the release date, which is currently set for August 4, 2017.

Since this information comes from an anonymous source and not Legendary Pictures or del Toro, there’s a good chance this is nothing more than a rumor. However, if it’s all true, then we may have to wait a little while longer for Pacific Rim 2. We’ll keep you posted on this one.
