According to the NY Post, Dacre Stoker, Bram Stoker’s great-grandnephew, has penned a sequel to the original novel along with Long Island screenwriter Ian Holt, which even has the official backing of the Stoker Estate, the first to have such a designation since the original film adaptation starring Bela Lugosi.
Titled Dracula: The Un-Dead, the book was sold to Harper UK, who will handle foreign distribution, and Brian Tart of Dutton, who will handle domestic distribution. The book, which supposedly includes characters and plot threads from Bram Stoker’s own notes, will hit U.S. stands in October 2009. It’s also out to studios for a film adaptation. Let the bidding war begin!
Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt will be doing a panel on Saturday, July 25, at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
