Well, not really. The only times Androids and iPhones could potentially cause a bloody rampage is when I’m in a theatre and someone is texting next to me or within my field of vision. We’re talking about more traditional droids here…

THR reports that Steve Zaillian and Garrett Basch are producing an adaptation of the Anthony O’Neill novel The Dark Side. The title was only published as an eBook in June.

Javier Gullon, the scribe who generated plenty of heat with his drama spec 478, has been tapped to adapt the book. Fox picked up the rights late last year.

The Dark Side is an elevated sci-fi noir story set in a future where the moon is utilized as a penal colony, housing criminals, psychopaths, and curious tourists alike. As an anarchic android begins wreaking havoc on the area and bodies start turning up, an exiled detective arrives to investigate. The project is described as in the vein of Avatar and Blade Runner.

Gullon is the Spanish screenwriter who previously wrote Enemy, the Denis Villeneuve-directed Jake Gyllenhaal drama.
