Popular throughout the 90s, the Backstreet Boys aren’t exactly a band that horror fans often consider a favorite, though that isn’t stopping them from breaking into the genre. And believe it or not, they’re bringing a member of ‘NSync along for the ride. Read on.

Per The Fact, Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter will write and star in a “zombie western futuristic horror movie” for Sharknado production company The Asylum, tentatively titled Dead 7.  Fellow band-members Howie Dorough and A.J. McClean have signed on, along with ‘NSync’s Joey Fatone.

The film is about a ragtag band of gunslingers operating during a post-apocalyptic zombie plague.

Carter, a huge horror fan, is currently putting together a wish list of musicians he’d like to cast in the film, which at the moment includes New Kids of the Block’s Jordan Knight.

Horror movies are so weird sometimes, aren’t they?
