Not content with just one horror project on the horizon, director Scott Stewart is set to reunite with the star of his upcoming supernatural thriller Legion, Paul Bettany, as a means to breathe life into the live-action adaptation of Tokyo Pop’s comic Priest.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the Screen Gems film is being prepped for a release date of August 13th, 2010.

“Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Cory Goodman (The Brood) wrote the screenplay.”

I knew the moment I saw Stewart’s first cut of ‘Legion’ [opening in January] that Bettany was Priest and so I mentioned it to him immediately,” said Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper. At the time of this writing Bettany is still in negotiations to star.

Keep it here for more as it comes.
