For those of you scratching your heads, check out my BugCrush review to understand. This has to be one of the single most disturbing things I saw all last year. Packed with young boys, sexual tension, and hallucenagenic insects, it is one of a kind. An excellent exercise in dread in an odd Lynch meets Cronenberg style.
BugCrush will also be shown on Tuesday January 23rd as part of the Sundance Channel’s nightly block of Sundance Film Festival Programming. If you dn’t get the Sundance channel, BugCrush will be released on DVD later this year via Strand Releasing.
Slamdance, billed as a festival by filmmakers for filmmakers, was established in 1995 and boasts some big name alums like Memento and Batman Begins helmer Christopher Nolan. They’re also one of the fairly few non-genre specific festivals that is friendly and open to horror, even running a screenplay competition this year. So, if you’re on the west coast on in the area, make sure you get your tickets and see what I’ve been raving about!
