As you might expect, The Dark Knight leads the pack with 11 nominations, but horror holds its own fairly well thanks to three rather surprising nods to Let the Right One In in the Best International Film, Best Performance By a Younger Actor (Lina Leandersson), and Best Writing (John Ajvide Lindqvist) categories. The genre films nominated for Best Picture are The Happening, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Quarantine, Splinter, and The Strangers.
We also stand out among the TV show nominees with “Lost”, “Heroes” (sigh), “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, “Supernatural”, “Dexter”, and “True Blood”.
The Academy’s membership is open to the public, and the presentation show will take place on June 25, 2009, at a site to be announced.
