We first heard about Rupture, a new horror/sci-fi project starring Noomi Rapace, in mid-April, and now we’ve learned who her co-star is going to be.  Per Deadline, the always awesome Michael Chiklis (“The Shield,” “American Horror Story: Freak Show”) has joined the cast of Rupture, directed by Steven Shainberg (Secretary) and produced by Andrew Lazar (American Sniper).

The film centers on a single mother (Rapace) struggling to raise her 12-year-old son who is abducted by a mysterious organization. Tied up in their lab, they question her about her medical history, eventually revealing that she has a genetic abnormality:  Her worst fear can cause her to “rupture” — releasing her own alien nature. It is based on a story by Shainberg and Brian Nelson (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night), who wrote the screenplay.

Chiklis will play “The Bald Man,” the entities’ powerful point man who directs the mother’s violent capture. Principal photography begins next month.

Tango Pictures, a partnership among Christina Weiss Lurie, Shainberg, and Lazar, is teaming with Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s AMBI Group on the project.
