“It quickly became obvious that Jane (Austen) had laid down the blueprint for a zombie novel,” author Seth Grahame-Smith told Australia’s Herald Sun. ”Why else in the original should a regiment arrive on Lizzie Bennet’s doorstep when they should have been off fighting Napoleon? It was to protect the family from an invasion of brain-eaters, obviously.”
The article doesn’t say which studios are looking at the book for a filmed adaptation, but it does say that Hollywood is in the midst of a bidding war over the rights to make it happen. Seriously, if this gets made, it will either be the end of the zombie sub-genre as we know it or a glorious new beginning. No middle road here.
