Variety is reporting this morning that Dimension Films has joined forces with Rodriguez to produce, through his Troublemaker Studios, the long-awaited adaptation of Michael Allred’s modern Frankenstein tale. Swimming With Sharks director George Huang will be at the helm, working from a script he will co-write with Allred.
I guess if anyone is going to handle the tale, about a doctor who brings a car accident victim back to life and imbues him with psychic powers, heightened senses and enhanced physical abilities, it should be a one of the comic’s biggest fans. “George has always had a really great grasp of the books, and Michael is just about the coolest guy you’ll ever meet,” Rodriguez told the trade. “His Madman comics are nothing short of visionary.”
Filming will take place exclusively at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios ranch in Texas and will follow the same template as Robert’s fantastic Sin City adaptatioin, for which the director is working on the sequel as we speak. No word on when filming will start, but rest assured we’ll be keeping a close watch on this one!
