Is this true? Did the initial publication of Stoker’s novel modify the intended beginning and end of the famous story? Apparently there is some truth to it actually, at least in the excising of Bram Stoker’s Dracula’s Guest by the publisher. The editors apparently thought the story a little on the long side, and perhaps got a little heavy with the scissors. Dracula’s Guest was later released as a short story, two years after the death of Bram Stoker.
What other other missing pieces there might be are beyond me. Releasing another adaptation of Dracula introduces a sticky wicket, even if with some eye-candy artwork. Remain too faithful, and you’ve a work that’s been done a hundred times over in the last century; allow too much newly invented material, and you’ve committed revisionist blasphemy of a classic. Hopefully Dynamite shot for a happy medium between the two. I look forward to giving it a read!
