Game of Thrones Actor Fights for Our Independence Day

More casting news has arrived for the sequel to Independence Day as according to Deadline DeObia Oparei, the UK actor who plays Prince Doran’s captain of the guard Areo Hotah on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” has booked a role in 20th Century Fox’s Independence Day 2.

Oparei will play Dikembe, the Oxford-educated son of an African warlord. He joins the previously announced Sela Ward, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner, Vivica Fox, Judd Hirsch, Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joey King, and Maika Monroe in the film.

Director Roland Emmerich will return to helm the film. Independence Day 2 is set for release on June 24, 2016 — almost exactly 20 years from when the first film hit theaters on July 3, 1996. Dean Devlin, Emmerich and Harald Kloser are producing. James A. Woods and Nicolas Wright wrote the most recent draft.
