10 Reality TV Stars Who Appeared in Horror Movies

While reality television isn’t exactly regarded as high art, sometimes it’s a means to an end or a gateway to bigger and better things. For example: SNL’s Kristen Wiig, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, and La La Land’s Emma Stone all appeared on reality TV early in their respective careers.

Naturally, not everyone who pops up on American Idol or The Joe Schmo Show makes the leap from small screen reality personality to silver screen legend. But you might be surprised by the sheer number of reality television cast members that have had the occasion to appear in a horror picture. Read on for ten reality stars that have appeared in a horror movie!

Rachel Reilly in (Axeman 2: Overkill)

Axeman 2 RR - 10 Reality TV Stars Who Appeared in Horror Movies

Any fan of Big Brother can tell you that two-time contestant and one-time winner Rachel Reilly has a personality larger than life. Her televised antics often bordered on theatrical and perhaps that’s what led the reality starlet to try her hand at acting. Reilly appeared as Breaker in the horror sequel, Axeman 2: Overkill. The sequel sees the killer from the first film returning to square off against a crazy gaggle of Evangelicals. Fellow reality television alumna Farrah Abraham (Teen Mom) also starred in this dumpster fire film.

Jamie Chung in (Sorority Row)

The Real World: San Diego’s Jamie Chung is one of a small group of reality stars who have managed to break out in a big way. She’s done substantial arcs on Gotham and Once Upon a Time, as well as scoring a sizeable role in Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch. The most noteworthy of her film credits for today’s purposes is her turn as Claire in the 2009 slasher reboot, Sorority Row. Chung doesn’t have a great deal of screen time but viewers likely remember her bubbly demise.

Annaleigh Tipton (Warm Bodies)

After placing third on Cycle 11 of America’s Next Top Model, Annaleigh Tipton took her fifteen minutes of fame and parlayed it into a fairly successful acting career. After her stint on reality television, the model turned actress appeared in an eight-episode arc on Showtime’s Hung and also scored a small role in The Green Hornet. But Tipton is probably most recognizable to horror fans as Nora from the rom-zom-com Warm Bodies.

Heather Morris (Most Likely to Die)

Most Likely to Die Heather Morris 1024x576 - 10 Reality TV Stars Who Appeared in Horror Movies

Long before she joined the Glee Club at William McKinley High School, Heather Morris was a contestant on Season Two of So You Think You Can Dance. She made it to Vegas but was cut shy of making the final 20. Luckily, Morris also had acting chops and was able to carve out a name for herself in Hollywood. Right around the time Glee was canceled, Morris popped up as Gaby in Anthony DiBlasi’s largely overlooked slasher effort, Most Likely to Die. If you haven’t seen it, this tale of revenge against former high school classmates is worth checking out.

While she didn’t exactly have a pivotal role in the film, America’s Next Top Model winner Adrienne Curry shows up briefly in the 2015 anthology flick, Tales of Halloween. Curry cameos as the victim of a carjacking in Darren Lynn Bousman’s segment, “The Night Billy Raised Hell”.

Lala Kent (The Row)

You may know Lala as the free-spirited hostess turned musician on Vanderpump Rules. But the reality starlet has actually begun to make something of a name for herself as an actress. In 2018, she starred alongside Randy Couture in the sorority house slasher, The Row. While doing publicity for the film, Kent admitted that there are certain parallels between rushing a sorority (as her character Riley does in the film) and reality television. Perhaps her stint on Vanderpump Rules actually did prepare her for the leap to the silver screen.

Katharine McPhee (Shark Night 3-D)

After she gave viewers #McPhever as a finalist on American Idol, Katharine McPhee enjoyed success as both a singer and actress. McPhee has charted several singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and also enjoyed a successful acting career. Most notably for horror fans, the reality star appeared as Beth in Shark Night 3D. The tale of a weekend getaway in shark-infested waters failed to make much of a splash at the box office or win over many critics. But McPhee didn’t let that deter her. She’s since landed starring roles on the NBC television series Smash and the CBS show, Scorpion.

Kristin Cavallari (Fingerprints)

Kristin Cavallari first tried her hand at reality television as one of the core cast members of Laguna Beach. Shortly after leaving her hometown to pursue an acting career, Cavallari scored a starring role in the all-but-forgotten horror flick, Fingerprints. Don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t heard of this one. You’re not missing much. It’s a tepid tale of a small town with a horrifying secret. Cavallari later returned to reality television with The Hills and more recently, Very Cavallari.

Stassi Schroeder (Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens)

Like her Vanderpump Rules costar Lala Kent, Stassi Schroeder has also dabbled in the performance arts. She popped up for a brief cameo in Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens. Believe it or not, Stassi was not the only Bravo network celebrity to cameo in Sharknado 4. Her Vanderpump Rules costar and ex-boyfriend Jax Taylor as well as Erika Girardi (of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) also made cameo appearances in the made-for-television disaster flick.

Audrina Patridge (Sorority Row)

Sorority Row - 10 Reality TV Stars Who Appeared in Horror Movies

Audrina Patridge is the second The Hills alumna to make this list. The reality star turned actress appeared in Sorority Row alongside fellow reality TV personality Jamie Chung (who also pops up on this list). Patridge has also been featured in a couple of direct-to-video titles and additionally made a cameo in Scary Movie 5. Seeing as how Patridge doesn’t really come across as a born performer in any of her acting roles, it probably comes as no surprise that she hasn’t added any new acting credits to her IMDb profile since 2013.
