New Adaptation of Stephen King’s THE NEW YORK TIMES AT SPECIAL BARGAIN RATES is In the Works

As part of a new overall deal with CBS Studios, Alex Kurtzman will spearhead a series adaptation of Stephen King’s short story “The New York Times at Special Bargain Rates”.

Deadline broke the news, reporting:
The agreement will keep Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout at CBS Studios through 2026, giving the studio exclusive rights to the company’s projects for all platforms, including a series adaptation of Stephen King’s short story “The New York Times at Special Bargain Rates.” Additionally, Kurtzman will remain at the helm of the growing Star Trek franchise for the next six years.
“The New York Times at Special Bargain Rates” was originally published in the October/November 2008 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and collected in King’s 2008 collection Just After Sunset.
Synopsis:
The story concerns Annie Driscoll following the funeral of her husband, as she receives a harrowing phone call from the most unexpected person.
