Maria Howell to Play Seeder in The Hunger Games: Catching FireLast week we got word that E. Roger Mitchell would be portraying District 11 tribute Chaff in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and now we know who’s playing his partner, Seeder. Read on for the details, and look for more soon. Just 13 more tributes to go!

The part of Seeder has gone to Maria Howell, an actor, singer, and voiceover artist.

Per The Hunger Games on Facebook, Howell has appeared in Lifetime’s hit shows “Army Wives” and “Drop Dead Diva”, The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries”, Fox’s “Past Life”, and more as well as the acclaimed theatrical release The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock. She now joins the regular cast of the TV series “Revolution,” airing this fall on NBC.

Throughout her singing career, she has shared the musical stage with legendary artists like Nancy Wilson, George Benson, Ray Charles, and Earl Klugh. After a very successful stint in Asia, Maria relocated back to the US and performed weekly at Sambuca Jazz Café for nine consecutive years…2002 to its closing in December 2010. She and pianist Bill Wilson (son of legendary jazz pianist Teddy Wilson) held the distinction of being the longest running act at the Atlanta location. She has released several CD recordings, the most recent of which is titled Reflections, a retrospective collection.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

Lionsgate will release The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on November 22, 2013.
