RIP: LOLITA & DEAD RINGERS Star Shirley Douglas Dies at 86

Actress Shirley Douglas has passed away due to complications from pneumonia. Her son, The Lost Boys and Stand by Me actor Kiefer Sutherland took to Twitter to make sure everyone knows his mother’s passing was not related to COVID19.

He tweeted: “Earlier this morning, my mother, Shirley Douglas, passed away due to complications surrounding pneumonia (not related to COVID19),” Sutherland tweeted. “My mother was an extraordinary woman who led an extraordinary life. Sadly she had been battling for her health for quite some time and we, as a family, knew this day was coming. To any families who have lost loved ones unexpectedly to the coronavirus, my heart breaks for you. Please stay safe.”

Douglas was the mother of three children: Thomas Emil Sicks from her marriage to Timothy Emil Sicks and twins Rachel Sutherland and Kiefer Sutherland from her second marriage to Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Don’t Look Now actor Donald Sutherland.

Douglas was best known here at Dread Central for her roles in Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita and David Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers with Jeremy Irons.
