Bethesda Announces Doom and Wolfenstein II for Switch; New Skyrim Switch Footage Released

Bethesda dropped some huge announcements during this week’s Nintendo Direct conference…
Firstly, last year’s highly acclaimed Doom reboot (review) will be heading to the Switch, making it the first entry in the franchise on a Nintendo system since Doom II on the Game Boy Advance back in 2002. Engadget learned from Bethesda that the Switch version will include all updates and DLC, although due to restrictions of the Switch’s storage capacities, the multiplayer will need to be downloaded separately. It will be released later this year.
It was also confirmed that Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be heading to the Switch next year, although no other details were given.
Lack of third-party support has been a problem for Nintendo since the days of the original Wii, so the news that two recent huge AAA games, which were originally developed for the more powerful PS4 and Xbox One systems, will both be heading to the Switch seems to bode very well for the future of the console.
Also during the Nintendo Direct conference, Bethesda revealed new footage for the Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which launches on November 17th, making it the first game in the series on a Nintendo system.
