Haunters Director Hosting SXSW Panel About Immersive Horror Experiences

One of the biggest events of the year is Austin’s South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, which combines a tech convention, a film festival, concerts, and other fun activities into one major fest that lasts about 10 days and draws in hundreds of thousands of people. It’s one hell of a time and you better believe that I can’t wait to go again this year!

While there, I plan on checking out a panel I just learned about called “Immersive Horror Experiences”, which is led by director/producer Jon Schnitzer (Haunters: The Art of the Scare, Flatline Experience VR) and artist/educator Joel Zika (The Dark Ride Project).

Here’s the description of the panel:
The horror genre has led the way in immersive experiences for over a century. From the dark rides of the 1920s, haunted houses of the 50s to the recent rise of visceral extreme haunts, interactive theater and VR experiences, learn how horror visionaries have been engaging audiences in cutting edge simulations by exploring how it all began, the controversies facing interactive horror artists today and what our experts believe will be the next wave of immersive entertainment.

The panel will be held March 14 at the Austin Convention Center in Room 6AB.
