Debut Director Glenn Packard Gives Birth to Unusual Slasher in Pitchfork

The independent horror movie circuit is truly one of the greatest in the industry, as the passion for the genre runs deep for filmmakers and screenwriters alike. Whether the finished product is universally loved or hated by fans or critics, there certainly is no denying the heart from the makers’ that immerses itself so deeply within their screen child. Well, at least a grand portion of them do. Can’t speak for all of them. However, with his directorial horror debut film Pitchfork, Glenn Packard is a clear case of blood, sweat, and all the tears poured out onto a bloody gore-fest in what he describes as, a very personal horror film deriving from his own life experiences and love for the slasher films of the 80’s.

The acclaimed choreographer to the stars, and series regular on E!’s “Brooke Knows Best,” combined his inner fears along with some twisted imagery to create a terror tale that not only mirrors his personal life experiences of coming out to family and friends, but his obvious love for the slasher genre. The monster, whom is indeed referred to as Pitchfork, can be best described as an orgy of the iconic slashers of the 80’s mutated with Wolverine.  He has the lunacy mannerisms and positioning stance of Leatherface, the revenge mindset of Voorhees, and a weapon ( yep, you guessed it- a pitchfork) infused into his hand socket that shadows Freddy Krueger. Oh the Wolverine bit- it’s the abs. This psycho has killer abs like Jackman. So this reminiscent nod , however bizarre mutation of a horror movie villain, is definitely unique to say the least.

Pitchfork 1

The official synopsis of the film follows Hunter Killian (Brian Raetz) and a group of friends traveling to his farm home to help him share a secret that could out him from his family, only to learn that sometimes older secrets are what he really should be worried about. And they absolutely should be afraid, as this “slasher” is one of the most demented I’ve ever seen. Then again, when you take traits from every beloved slasher icon, should we really expect any less? The passion Packard has for said horror genre, certainly shines in his crazed creation for Pitchfork. Check out the teaser trailer below!
