Who among us hasn’t pined for a handsome, long-dead gentleman to whisk us off our feet and back into a past we view with naively rose-colored glasses? Director Zelda Williams and writer Diablo Cody are indulging such a fantasy in their new film Lisa Frankenstein. This is weird girl cinema at its finest, at least it seems that way from the new official trailer, and as a certified Weird Girl, I am buzzing with excitement.

A coming of RAGE love story from acclaimed writer Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body) about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness… and a few missing body parts along the way.

Honestly, Lisa is just like me as a kid, only she gets to live out every weird girl’s dark fantasies. Lisa Frankenstein is giving us 2024 weird-o-goth girl (except steeped in pink) vibes and I hope the entire year just rides that incredible wave.
Kathryn Newton, Cole Sprouse, Liza Soberano, Henry Eikenberry, Joe Chrest, and Carla Gugino star in the film.
