VAMPYR Already Winging Its Way to TV Series Via FOX 21

In a rather quick move being only a couple of months after it’s release day on June 5, DONTNOD Entertainment‘s Vampyr has now been officially staked out for the TV series treatment. Deadline reports that Fox 21 Television Studios is affirming what many of us were thinking when we were slashing our way through the plague-ridden streets of 1918 London: “This game would make an awesome TV show/movie.” Considering Vampyr tore it’s way to No. 1 on the charts in the game’s first month with over 450,000 copies sold, it’s little surprise someone else wasn’t thinking the same thing we all were.

Having secured the rights, FOX 21 is now tapping Wonderland Sound & Vision and DJ2 Entertainment to handle adapting the property. The project is set to roll with McG in the director’s chair, and Mary Viola, Corey Marsh, and DJ2’s Dmitri Johnson and Stephan Bugaj set to produce.

This news comes only a couple weeks after the developers announced two new game modes would be coming to Vampyr later this year. With a lower difficulty setting the new so-called Story mode is reported to take a significantly less combat-oriented approach to the gameplay. The goal here allowing gamers to focus more on the narrative experience surrounding Dr. Reid as he flits through the recesses of London. It follows then that the second new game mode would naturally be Hard mode featuring more difficult combat and less experience forcing you to make some tough choices. Given the mechanics of the game, both styles should yield some pretty exciting playthroughs.
