EYE OF THE BEHOLDER: THE ART OF DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Documentary Examines The Franchise’s Gorgeous Artwork

Last year, we reported on Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons, a documentary examining some of the beautiful artwork from the Dungeons & Dragons franchise. The feature-length film is now available to view on a number of platforms, so whether you are a hardcore D&D fan or just an appreciator of brilliant artwork, you can find the links to purchase the documentary from its official website.

Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons & Dragons was directed by Kelley Slagle and Brian Stillman, with the latter also being the director of Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys. After several years in production, the film premiered at the Gen Con Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Documentary, in addition to winning Best Documentary Feature at the Clifton Film Celebration later in the year.

The featured interviewees include renowned artists such as Margaret Weiss, Larry Elmore, Clyde Caldwell, Tony DiTerlizzi, and Jeff Easley. As you can see from the trailer below, many of the most famous pieces of artwork from the D&D franchise will be featured in the film, and some of them really are stunning. Looking at these gorgeous pieces, it really is no wonder that Dungeons & Dragons has remained so popular over its forty-five-year history.
