Renowned director Katt Shea has confirmed that heartthrob actor Erik Fellows has been recruited to star in the upcoming remake of her film Dance of the Damned. Shea is again handling the directorial duties. Fellows, who is best known for his role as Troy Winston on the long-running daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” will play the role of The Vampire made famous by Cyril O’Reilly in the 1989 original.

From the Press Release
Katt Shea, the director who empowered a generation of up and coming female directors with such hit movies as Poison Ivy, Stripped to Kill and The Rage: Carrie II, has just announced that she has cast Erik Fellows in her remake of Dance of the Damned.

Erik Fellows, who got his start in the horror entertainment field with such efforts as Mustang Sally (aka Mustang Sally’s Horror House) and Monster Mania, broke out to appear in a reoccurring role in the daytime soap “Days of Our Lives”. Fellows will be taking on the role originated by Cyril O’Reilly as the vampire who yearns to learn what it’s like to live in the daylight and ends up finding companionship with a suicidal stripper that he has taken hostage.

Past efforts have shown that Fellows certainly has star presence and quality. However, Dance of the Damned will offer up a chance for him to show a range that he hasn’t in past efforts by being up to take on the duality of good and evil. In one instance, his character is just this person who longs to connect with someone after living a life shunned away by society. On the other hand, he is a blood-thirsty vampire who has to feed his cravings. This role in Dance of the Damned will offer up the young up and coming actor a chance to showcase his vulnerability balanced against the animalistic instincts that his character can’t control. It’s a chance for Fellows to show a dimensionality that he hasn’t been able to show yet and will serve as the chance to showcase what makes him unique and distinctive.

In the original Dance of the Damned, a vampire follows his instincts to a strip joint where he focuses in on one of the performers. He picks her for his meal because she is contemplating suicide, but he wants to share her life before taking it, and during the course of the evening they discuss their differences, their fears, and their lifestyles. As the moment of truth approaches, she becomes less sure that she wants to die.

Dance of the Damned is now under way with pre-production with legendary director/producer Roger Corman (Piranha, Little Shop of Horrors) serving as executive producer.
