The Lock In Unleashes a Christian Found Footage Anti-Porn Horror Movie that Hopes to Literally Scare the Hell Out of YouThis weekend we get supernatural found footage terror with Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, and in two weeks there’s more with the Rosemary’s Baby-ish Devil’s Due. But in between comes…

The release of The Lock In, a Christian found footage horror movie about good upstanding teens fighting for their mortal souls against unholy evil unleashed from a porno mag.

Filmdrunk brought us word of The Lock In, and drunk might be the best way to watch the film – if you aren’t already part of the choir it’s preaching to, that is. If you do, then they’ll probably have to make a sequel about a demon unleashed from a bottle of Navy strength rum.

Here’s the press release from the appropriately named Holy Moly Pictures:

Holy Moly Pictures has announced the release date for The Lock In, a Christian found footage horror film about pornography to be released January 9th, 2014.

Imagine your life being torn apart and the very wiring of your brain being changed by a seemingly innocent prank. This is what happens when three teenage boys are terrorized by demon activity after a “dirty magazine” is snuck into an overnight church event called a lock in. During the lock in, members of the youth group are “locked in” the church to have fun, play games, and get to know one another. In spite of the youth pastor’s attempt to intervene, the boys must come to terms with the pornographic images themselves in order to be truly freed from the demon.

Movies have always been a good medium to highlight social issues. Pornography is a growing epidemic in the church community for men, women, and children with most of the underage victims being exposed in a place thought to be safe. The producers of the film hope that not only will it be entertaining, it will also be used as a tool for conversations about the dangers of pornography and the importance of being aware.

My immediate question from having read that press release and watching the above trailer: Why is the demon a little kid? This is an unholy entity set loose from the filthy, soul-corrupting, satanic pages of a pornographic magazine; why does the demon take the form of “Leave it to Beelzebub”? Shouldn’t the porn-spawned demonic terror take the form of a really hot seductress with an unfortunate case of demon face? Or at least an appropriately skanky looking broad whose unsightly tattoos come to life to attack people and various piercings grow to become the instruments she uses to torment victims a la the Hellraiser hooks, all the while terrified pervs begin breaking out in fully body herpes? That sounds like the sort of a hellspawn I’d expect from a “Pornographic Activity” horror flick.

To be fair to the makers of The Lock In, their film honestly doesn’t look any worse than any number of DTV found footage horror movies of late. The demon kid face is even somewhat creepy, albeit incredibly cliché.

January 9th is when The Lock In (official site here) begins scaring heathens and saving souls on VOD and instant streaming. I hope you didn’t think this was going theatrical. What do you think this is – C Me Dance (review)?

Hold on a sec. Wasn’t there another Paranormal Activity-style Christian found footage horror movie from around a year or two ago about a box of old porn unleashing a demonic entity in a married couple’s house? I’d swear I wrote the story about it… right here!
