The New ‘Alien’ TV Series Finds Its Star

It feels like we have been waiting forever for updates on Noah Hawley’s Alien TV show. This is why we’re excited to get a very big crumb about casting today. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling) is one of the first to land a leading role on the show.

The article also goes on to remind us that: “The series is not a reboot of the beloved movies but rather an extension and reinvention of the franchise. The story will not feature any characters from the movies, including Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley.

We remain sad about not getting more time with Ripley; however, we cannot help but be intrigued by this impending show set to expand the Alien lore.

Chandler is a relative newcomer to acting. That said, she has managed to stand out in each of her roles to date. We’re excited to see what she’ll do in this universe. Her dad is Kyle Chandler, who has been steadily working in film and TV since the mid-80s.

Hawley is best known as the showrunner for FX’s Fargo. He also directed and co-wrote the Natalie Portman-led film Lucy in the Sky.

FX CEO John Landgraf told reporters that the series would take place on Earth towards the end of this century, which is a departure for the franchise.

Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead 2013) is currently filming the newest Alien movie. We’re not sure if it will connect with the series, aside from both being newer entries in the franchise. Either way, it’s a great time to be part of this fanbase.
