Zak Hilditch’s Airplane Thriller AIRBORNE Adds Alexandra Daddario

One of our favorite up-and-coming directors here at Dread Central is Zak Hilditch. The man impressed the hell out of us with his Netflix horror one-two punch of Rattlesnake and his adaptation of Stephen King’s 1922. And today we’ve learned via Deadline that his new airplane thriller Airborne has snagged Alexandra Daddario as its lead.

Daddario will play a flight attendant who faces a mid-flight pandemic and when the deadly disease spreads throughout the plane, she must contain the infected passengers and against unlikely odds land the aircraft safely.

XYZ Films has taken on international rights to Airborne which was previously set up under the much better title Celestial Blue when it was in development over at Covert Media. All the same, Ross Dinerstein produces this version along with Liz Kearney.

For those who might not know, Daddario is one of our favorite up-and-coming scream queens after having starred in such new genre classics as Bereavement, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Burying the Ex, Night Hunter, and We Have Always Lived in the Castle. Not to mention her stellar work on TV shows such as True Detective and American Horror Story: Hotel.

She can be seen next in director Marc Meyers’ We Summon the Darkness along with Keean Johnson, Maddie Hasson, Logan Miller, Amy Forsyth, and Johnny Knoxville. Saban Films will unleash that flick on December 13, 2019. Check out a clip below.
